Health & Safety
Health and safety in the home is taken very seriously in our homes and where possible, we encourage the residents to take an interest and participate in the checks to build on their own life skills ready for independence.
We undertake on a regular basis in line with legislation:
- Fire Safety Checks
- Fire Alarm Testing
- Legionella Testing
- Room Checks
As well as the above:
- All equipment provided by Phoenix is PAT tested.
- We have a maintenance team who support residents to maintain the home.
- Regular House Evacuations
The home operates a zero-tolerance attitude to substance misuse and will work closely with the local police to ensure that any concerns in this area are addressed as part of an “Early intervention” protocol between the home and the local police.
Challenging behaviour where significant “assaults” are carried out will be dealt with by liaison with the local police. This strategy is not in place to criminalise young people but to support young people to understand that these behaviours are not acceptable, there are consequences to actions, and what the actual “reality” of such offences can hold for them and their future.
We work closely with the local police to put in place youth restorative orders (informal actions) as an early intervention measure where necessary.
