Our Approach

Here at Phoenix independence, we recognise that any young person who is in the care system will be going through an emotional trauma when they reach the age of 16, as the uncertainty in their life returns.

We want to help guide them through the transition from leaving a Residential Children’s home or maybe foster home to be able to survive living independently. We can offer a range of support options and provide each young person with a homely and nurturing environment – crucial for our young people to feel comfortable, secure and to move forward.

Their move on options and ongoing support will be carefully considered alongside the social care team, and we will work on this together, our goal and mission is to equip each of our young people successfully with the skills to fully integrate into adulthood, and our staff are fully committed to doing the utmost for the young people to do more than just survive, we hope to help them thrive in the community and in their chosen paths.

how we work

How we Work

Here at Phoenix Independence, we encourage our support team to adopt a Trauma-Informed Practice approach when working with young people due to the adverse child experiences many have experienced.

Support Delivery

All young people will receive a tailored support package designed with their full involvement to promote independence. This is using information gathered from initial assessment, working with other professionals and family members who can support the young person to positively achieve their aspirations.

PACE

PACE

PACE stands for playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. It aim’s to enable staff to engage with children and young people who experienced a range of adverse childhood situations and trauma. It was developed by Daniel Hughes, focusing on children with attachment difficulties.
